My training

My training and experience

I have a BSc in Psychology from the University of Manchester, where I specialised in the psychology of love, social communication via the internet, and work-related stress. Alongside my studies, I also developed my understanding and experience of neurodivergence — an area that has continued to be a big part of both my professional and personal life.

I’m a UK-accredited Gestalt Counsellor, trained at the Gestalt Centre in London. I’m also a qualified clinical supervisor, having trained with The Counselling Tutor in 2025, and have been involved in individual and group peer supervision since 2020. Although my own training is rooted in Gestalt, I’m able to work with practitioners across different therapeutic approaches and professional backgrounds.

Over the years, I’ve followed my curiosity into a wide range of areas, including:

  • Neurodivergence, including ADHD, autism, PDA, dyslexia and giftedness
  • Anger, depression, lack of direction and experiences that can sometimes lead to violence
  • British Boarding School Syndrome
  • Gender, sexual identity and relationship diversity
  • Women’s mental health, including menopause
  • The complexities of twin relationships – something I also understand from lived experience

I’m also interested in finding different ways of working, rather than assuming that therapy has to look one particular way. Depending on what works for you, I can offer:

  • Video or telephone sessions
  • Email and SMS counselling
  • Outdoor, nature or ‘walk and talk’ therapy
  • Meditation, visualisation and mindfulness
  • Therapeutic writing, journalling, freefall writing and other creative approaches

Before becoming a counsellor, I also worked as a trainer and facilitator around mental health. I’m a Reiki Master (Level 3), having trained in London and Hong Kong, and was attuned to Reiki Master level in Hong Kong by Pervin Clasper in Usui Shiki Ryoho, the Usui System of Natural Healing.

My training is important to me, but so is everything I’ve learned through experience, as everything I am – a therapist, supervisor, trainer, partner, friend and parent. I’m naturally curious, and I’m always interested in finding new ways of understanding people and what makes us tick.
